Anil George was born on 20 August and is a resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana. His zodiac sign is Leo. He became interested in acting at a very young age. Hailing from a Christian family, Anil grew up and acted in various plays and dramas based on Biblical stories. His acting skills were highly appreciated since childhood. In an interview, Anil revealed that he once received a Rs 100 note from his elder brother for his remarkable performance in a play. Growing up, one of his friends would sneak him out of church and take him to Saharanpur to watch movies because the cinema halls in Saharanpur used to screen movies earlier than those in Yamunanagar. In this way Anil became a cinephile and decided to pursue a career in acting. He was a close acquaintance of Indian actor Tom Alter. Anil shared the stage and screen with Tom on several occasions.

They first met each other when Anil was 8 or 9 years old and Tom was working as a teacher at St. Thomas School in Jagadhri, Haryana. Later, when Tom established his career in Bollywood, he called Anil to Mumbai, where he started his career in the film industry.

In Mumbai, Anil started his acting career with the TV serial Yug (1996) starring Hema Malini and Pankaj Dheer. Airing on DD National, the series is based on a group of men and women from India who dedicate their youth to liberate their motherland from the oppressive rule of the British.
In 2001, he appeared in the horror anthology series Ssshhh… Koi Hai, which was aired on Star Plus. In 1999, Anil George debuted in Bollywood with Kabhi Paas Kabhi Fail, in which he played a taxi driver at a dhaba.
The same year, he appeared in the drama film Hu Tu Tu. In 2012, he came into limelight with the critically acclaimed drama film Miss Lovely, in which he played the role of Vicky Duggal. Set in the criminal depths of Mumbai’s C-grade industry, the film tells the story of the Duggal brothers, Sonu (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui) and Vicky, who make raunchy sex-horror films in the mid-1980s.

In 2014, he won critical acclaim for his role as Vakeel aka Vakeel Sahab in the action thriller film Mardaani. Other films in which he appeared include The Blue Umbrella (2005) as a barber, Do Lafzon Ki Kahani (2016) as Srikanth, and Babumoshai Bandookbaaz (2017) as Dubey. In Bollywood, he came into limelight with Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), in which he played the role of Zameer, a Pakistani minister who is drugged and interrogated by Indian spies to extract vital information.

- Anil George’s long hair and white beard have been his trademark during the peak years of his career, leading him to play terrorist, mafia and ISI chief roles in various films and TV series. It’s a Catch-22 situation for me. Due to the continuity of projects, I am getting stuck in this beard and long hair look.
