Amma Sri Karunamayi is an Indian spiritual leader, known for fulfilling the prophecy of the Indian Hindu saint Lord Ramana Maharshi. She was immersed in prayer and meditation from a very young age. Amma Sri Karunamayi was born on Tuesday, 21 October 1958 (age 64 years; as in 2022) in Andhra Pradesh, India. Her childhood was spent in an environment where she was constantly immersed in prayer, worship and meditation. Since childhood, Shri Karunamayi Amma has been inclined towards charity. She is the founder of the SMVA Trust, a global non-profit established in 1988 in collaboration with the United Nations DPI. SMVA Trust, along with Amma’s volunteer initiative programs, is called Karunaseva Compassionate Service. The organization provides free education to the underprivileged and provides them free medical care and facilities. Amma is also the founder and spiritual head of Manidweep Maha Sansthanam, an ashram which also includes Sri Lalitha Parameshwari Devi Tri-Shakti Peetham. These charitable organizations also strive to provide them with mobile medical clinics, emergency relief programs, and free housing for those who were evicted from their lands. Apart from this, Amma started many other humanitarian projects such as Sri Karunamoyee Free Hospital, Sri Karunamoyee Free School, homes for the elderly and charitable food distribution. - Amma Sri Karunamayi is also known as Bhagwati Sri Sri Vijayeshwari Devi, which means Goddess of Victory. Here the trinity “Shri” is a respectful prefix of respect for being holy, venerable and auspicious.
