Before becoming a stand-up comedian, Amit Tandon worked in the corporate sector. In 2006, he worked as Managing Director and CEO at Empyrean Partners for eleven years. In 2012, Amit founded Grandmasters of Comedy, a company focused on bringing comedy into the corporate sector. Later, he started doing stand-up comedy related to daily life, which was well received by the audience. He is known by his stage name ‘The Married Guy’. Amit has done his comedy shows all over the world. He has brought a comedy face-off show from Singapore named ‘Fight Comic to India’. In 2014, he hosted Doordarshan’s show named ‘New Year Show’. Amit Tandon made his television debut with the show ‘CEO’s Got Talent’ (2014), which aired on CNBC TV18.

In 2016, he made his YouTube debut with a video titled ‘Punjabi Family Problems’, the video went viral and made Amit an overnight star. After this he appeared in comedy series like ‘Comedy Dangal’ (2018) and ‘Comedians of the World’ (2019). In 2020, he performed solo in the Netflix show titled ‘Family Tondencies’. Later, he appeared in shows including ‘Chalo Koi Baat Nahi’ (2021), and ‘Comedy Premium League’ (2021). In 2022, Amit hosted a comedy show called ‘Good Night India’ which aired on Sony SAB. The aim of the show was to provide a clean and stress-relieving comedy style to the audience. In an interview, Amit discussed bringing an old school comedy back into vogue that the entire family can enjoy together without any awkward content. He said,
Happy to begin this journey. There is a huge market in our country which wants clean comedy. Something that they can enjoy with their family without worrying about jokes that have the potential to create an awkward atmosphere in their living room.”
In 2023, he did an international tour of his YouTube series titled ‘Masala Sandwich’. In the same year, he acted in the comedy series titled ‘Hamara Zamane Mein’.
