Amardeep Singh Aujla was born on Saturday, 3 December 1966 (age 56 years; as in 2022) in Ambala, Haryana, India. Their zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He completed his schooling from Mount St. Mary’s School, Delhi Cantt. After completing his formal education, Aujla applied for officers’ commission in the Indian Army and was selected to attend a one-and-a-half-year military training course at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun in 1985. He also holds a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Defense Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington. Aujla also holds master’s degrees in philosophy in defense and strategic studies from Devi Ahilya University in Indore and from the University of Madras in Chennai. He also attended the National Defense College (NDC) in New Delhi, where he did the National Security and Strategic Studies course.

Amardeep Singh Aujla was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the 13th Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles on 19 December 1987. He was later posted to Belgaum, Karnataka, where he attended the Young Officers (YO) Course. As a Major, Aujla served as a company commander in Kashmir from 1994 to 2004. He served as a Brigade Major during Operation Parakram. Later, he reported to the Army War College in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, where he underwent the Higher Command Course. After being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Aujla served as the Second-in-Command (2IC) of the 13th Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles. After being promoted to the rank of Colonel, he took command of the 15th Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles. Subsequently, he was sent to Belgaum, where he served as an instructor in the Commando Wing of the Infantry School. Later, Aujla was sent to Bhutan as an instructor with the Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT) to train the Bhutanese army. After returning to India, Aujla was appointed as a Colonel General Staff (CGS) in a corps of the Indian Army. After being promoted to the rank of Brigadier, Aujla was posted to New Delhi, where he served in the Directorate General of Perspective Planning (DG PP). After that, he was posted to Kashmir, where he held the post of Brigadier General Staff (BGS) (Operations) in Chinar Corps. He was later sent to New Delhi as Brigadier Infantry (C) in the Infantry Directorate. From 30 December 2013 to 15 June 2015, Aujla served as the Commander of the 268th Infantry Brigade in Jammu. As a Major General, his first posting was to the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defense (IHQ of MoD) (Army), New Delhi. Later, at the Northern Command Headquarters in Udhampur, Aujla served as Major General General Staff (Operations). Later, he was appointed as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Vajra Division, also known as the 28th Infantry Division, located on the Line of Control (LOC).
