In June 2023, Alok publicly alleged that his wife Jyoti Maurya was having an affair with Manish Dubey, the Home Guard Commandant in Ghaziabad. Alok claimed that he was told about the affair by Dubey’s wife in 2020. He said that Jyoti and Manish were initially connected on Facebook.

When confronted by Alok, Jyoti denies the allegations and demands proof. Alok reveals that he followed Jyoti to Lucknow, where he witnessed her meeting Manish at Hotel Myriad, where they spent the night together. The next morning, when Alok appeared, Jyoti confessed her love for Manish. Alok further alleged that Jyoti threatened him with false allegations including rape charges. He released WhatsApp chat messages between Jyoti and Manish, exposing their intimate conversations. Alok also claimed that Jyoti had kept a diary documenting the bribes she received during her tenure as SDM.

Alok sought help from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and lodged a complaint with the Prayagraj Police Commissioner and ASO, Dhumanganj in April 2023, but no action was taken. He accused Jyoti of conspiring with Manish to harm him. Jyoti responded by claiming her innocence and vowing to address the allegations in court. She lodged an FIR of dowry harassment against Alok and his family members. After the viral news of the case, Home Guard DG BK Maurya has ordered an investigation into the case. Although there were reports of Jyoti being suspended from her post, but it could not be confirmed. In July 2023, a widely circulated WhatsApp conversation surfaced in which Jyoti and Manish were discussing the murder of Alok Maurya.
