All time highest scoring team at ICC Cricket World Cup

The four-yearly ICC ODI World Cricket Championship is coming up and promises another action packed version filled with dramatic chases, high totals and incredible bowling alleys. One Day International is the most favorite form of cricket for most fans. It is not as technical and slow as Test cricket and the players do not play recklessly like in Twenty20. ODI games last a day and can be a good source of entertainment for the whole family, especially when the game falls on a day off.

There was a time when 300 was considered a high total in ODI, but that day is long gone. In this day and age, scoring more than 300 team points is almost essential to winning big games. Teams even overcame 400 runs, and that also happens during tense World Cup matches. Crossing the 400-run mark was a rarity until a decade ago.

The ICC Cricket World Cup has also seen its fair share of the massive total, with 7 of the top 10 scoring teams in just the last two editions of the tournament.

The 2023 World Cup will kick off in October and will be on every cricket fan’s must-watch list. To further enhance your knowledge and get a better understanding of the tournament, check out the list of top scoring teams in the ICC Cricket World Cup here.

Best Team Results in ICC Cricket World Cup

There are times when batters forget that they are playing an ODI game and start hitting the ball along the line from the very beginning. Players like Virender Sehwag, Chris Gayle and Adam Gilchrist are known to start their innings with a limit.

Be it favorable court surface, weather conditions or other factors, the average score of ODI matches is increasing and higher total score is becoming more common. However, the World Cup is the most prestigious and famous cricket tournament, leading to extra pressure on the players. However, teams like Australia, India and South Africa often produce the best ever team results at the World Cricket Championships, thanks to a record partnership, double century and stress polishing.

Australia currently holds the record for the highest total World Cup appearances. At the 2015 World Cup, Australia defeated Afghanistan after 275 runs, reaching a score of 417/6 headers. Check out the team’s other best results at the World Cup below.
