She is the volleyball captain and MVP during her senior year in high school.
Maria Danae was born on September 17, 1992 to Catherine and Patrick Riddlesprigger. She grew up with two sisters in Fresno, California. Maria’s mother was a teacher while her father was a former basketball player. Patrick was part of the Fresno State University basketball team in the early ’90s.
Danae started playing volleyball during her high school days at Bullard High School in Fresno. She continued to play the sport after joining Rice University in Houston. She was quite good at volleyball and was given the position of team captain. Danae was also MVP in her senior year.
Giannis paid tribute to Danae’s playing days in college when he wore shoes with his jersey number on them during the Jan. 21 game between the Bucks and the Bulls. Giannis scored his 10,000th career point in that game, and according to him, it was all thanks to the Danae-inspired shoes.
Maria’s passion for sports extended to her studies and she graduated from Rice University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. She also worked in the box office at Rice University for two years. After graduating, Maria earned two NBA internships. She worked with the basketball operations of the Philadelphia 76ers between May 2015 and June 2016.
His second internship was with the summer league. It was more intense than his job with the 76ers, but it gave him better opportunities to grow his career.
Mariah and Giannis welcomed their first child, Liam Charles, on February 10, 2020.
It’s unclear how Giannis and Maria met, but we can tell from social media that they’ve been together for around three years. The couple announced that they were expecting a son in mid-2019. Giannis had this to say about the baby;
“I think for a little man who’s not here yet, (that) makes you more mature. A lot of people say that I’m mature for my age, but I think that changes you a lot, but I’m happy about it. I’m excited about it. He is not here yet. I can’t wait until he’s here.”
The couple welcomed their baby boy, Liam Charles, into the world on February 10, 2020. Giannis broke the news via a tweet posted on February 10. He had previously posted a video on TikTok after Mariah went into labor and seemed quite excited at the prospect of fathering her.
Mariah claims to have grown as a mother as she awaits the birth of the couple’s second child
“My son is my purpose,” Mariah began in a May 13, 2021 Instagram post. She wrote that motherhood had made her discover more about herself. Mariah credited Liam for teaching her “more about patience, perseverance and passion in these last 15 months than she’s ever known.”
She said that a year ago, she was struggling with feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness. However, a year later, she has worked on herself and is looking forward to welcoming the couple’s second child. Mariah wrote:
“I worked on myself and promised myself that I would get better for myself and my family! One year ago marks one of the most difficult times of my life and today I am celebrating GROWTH! I’m achieving my dreams and raising some babies along the way! Liam and Baby #2, thank you for giving me purpose!”
Mariah said The Milwaukee Daily Sentinel that the family is excited to welcome another baby. She speculated that Liam would make a good big brother from the way he ‘lights up’ around the kids. As she congratulated Giannis on becoming an NBA champion, Mariah expressed her wish to welcome the couple’s second child soon:
“Nobody really knows the work you’ve put in and the obstacles you’ve had to overcome, but seeing part of your journey up close has been a blessing! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU BABY! You are an NBA CHAMPION and no one can take it away from you! I love everything about you, now we’re having this baby.”

On May 12, 2021, Mariah posted a photo of herself and Giannis on Instagram, referring to him as “MY INSPIRATION” in the caption. She credited Giannis with pushing her to launch a project titled Sincerely, Mariah.
She wrote that Giannis called her out for not completing any of the projects he had started. The words hurt, Mariah admitted, but they also put her into action. Danae explained:
“Her words resonated with me and are the reason I didn’t give up when I was tired, bored or wrapped up in maternity and personal issues. Every time I wanted to wave the white flag, I envisioned this adorable chunky accent challenging me to be the best version of myself. Giannis, thank you for believing in me, inspiring me and just being you.”
The Sincerely, Mariah brand has proven popular with fans. Of the six products on sale, four are already sold out. We hope that Mariah will start updating the site’s blog soon. The About page of the website says:
