Alka Yagnik was born on 20 March 1966 (age 57 years; as in 2023) in Kolkata, India. Her mother Shubha Yagnik was also a singer of Indian classical music and trained Alka to sing from a young age. She did her schooling from Modern High School for Girls in Kolkata, India. He started singing for Akashvani (All India Radio) at the age of six, where he interpreted devotional songs for radio. She came to Mumbai as a child singer at the age of 10. He was told to wait until his voice matured. Her zodiac/sun sign is Pisces.

He started singing for Calcutta Radio at the young age of six. She started her Bollywood career in 1979 by singing only a few lines in Rasashree’s song “Payal Ki Jhankar”.
