Alison Brahe News

Everyone wanted to be the Dolly cover girl, but she was it. Alison Brahe, who had golden complexion and sparkling eyes, was just as well-known as Elle Macpherson, yet she seemed more approachable.

Upon reflection, it was definitely her smile. It was wide, genuine, and occasionally mischievous, giving you the impression that even if you couldn’t be her, at least you could be her buddy.

Everyone, including those she loved the most, was unaware that beneath the carefree summer girl exterior, she was struggling with a terrible secret that she is only now ready to reveal.

What transpired happened just before she wed television host Cameron Daddo (in December 1991), the country’s most eligible bachelor, over 35 years ago. Before having kids, before relocating to America, and before she was the current teacher’s assistant.

She recalls that horrible evening in forensic detail despite the passage of time and her entire life. After our scheduled in-person interview at her home on Sydney’s northern beaches had to change to an online one, she was hesitant to write about it in her new memoir, Queen Menopause, and is similarly cautious as we speak via Zoom.

However, the 52-year-old mother of three knows that even while speaking from her bed in her pyjamas, she has a story to tell. Not always for her personal benefit, but rather for others.

When another model invited her to a party when she was 17 and working as a model in Japan, Brahe-Daddo says, “I was thrilled to go out because every other night had been spent in my flat block eating packets of noodles and phoning my boyfriend back home in Australia.”

She wants to draw attention to the fact that when she arrived at the party, she was wearing “high-waisted jeans with rips on the knees, a black belt, tightly fastened, and a long-sleeved black T-shirt, which showed a slice of my belly.”

Two men she didn’t know ran in her direction as she and her friend were having a conversation on a couch. She recounts, “I was talking to my friend one second, and the next thing I knew, two guys were lifting me up under my armpits and shoving me into a closet.” “They were touching my breasts and vagina with their hands up my shirt and sticking their mouths in my mouth. While fighting and yelling to be let out and seeing flashes of people drinking and dancing, no one could hear me because the music was so loud.
