He spent around an hour with Alex’s body before leaving it in the woods and leaving himself with no trace by going out for a pint with his buddies.
Mason was given a life sentence with a minimum of 28 years to serve before the Parole Board will consider releasing him. The minimum sentence was lowered to 26 years after he filed an appeal.
This week, a documentary examining the role social media played in the case will air. In it, Alex’s friends, family, and experts will discuss what occurred over two years ago. Tonight, April 29, at 10.30 p.m., the programme airs on ITV1.
