‘Aladdin’ Star Mena Massoud Deactivates Twitter After Backlash Over Criticism Of ‘The Little Mermaid’

Mena Massoud has deleted it Twitter account.

Early Saturday morning (May 13), the 31-year-old actor, who starred in Disney’s 2019 live-action remake of Aladdindeleted his social media account after receiving backlash for his tweet criticizing the upcoming The little Mermaid.

“Our film was unique in that audiences went to see it multiple times. It’s the only way we hit the billion dollar mark with our opening,” Mena tweeted. “I guess TLM doesn’t cross the billion mark, but it certainly will have a sequel.”

Fans clearly didn’t appreciate Mena’s comments, with many responding to criticize him.

“Sir, he’s bitter because the movie is doing much better than Aladdin, even though it’s not out yet… 😶”, one user tweeted.

Other wrote, “I loved Aladdin and it was literally in the top 5 of my favorite Disney remakes. being pessimistic about a movie that hasn’t been released yet but has been praised by critics is just disappointing. I am so disappointed in you.

“Mena Massoud is bitter and racist because Aladdin won’t have a sequel after all and The Little Mermaid is considered Disney’s best live-action movie without being officially released 🫠” a user wrote.

Several hours later, Mena deactivated her Twitter.

A few years ago, Mena claimed that she didn’t get any auditions after starring in Aladdin.

The little Mermaid will officially open in theaters on May 26.
