When it seemed that the next Olympic Games, scheduled for Tokyo in 1940, would be the toughest contender for gold.
But World War II postponed his only individual Olympic title until the following matches in 1948, which took place in London. In the end, Aladar crushed the Italian Vincenzo Pinton.

In the Helsinki matches of 1952 he even won the individual saber final, but this time Aladar was defeated by his compatriot Pal Kovacs. Then, he participated in the bronze for the foil team.
Aladar, considered one of the greatest defenders of the Hungarian sword school and with a vision of the method along with the weapon, Aladar joined in the early 1950s the last era of glory of Hungarian fencers.
There he was alongside a group of fantastic saber fencers such as Bertalan Papp, Rudolf Kárpáti, Tibor Bercelly and Pal Kovacs himself, and also with new additional safeties such as Zoltán Horváth and Gábor Delneky.

Gerevich was a married man and his wife’s name was Erna Bogen (also known as Erna Bogathy). Together, Gerevich and Erna have a son named Pál Gerevich. Likewise, Aladar’s father-in-law is Albert Bogen, all winners of Olympic medals in fencing.
