Not long after Al Pacino made a notable mistake on the 2024 Oscars stage, critics quickly took to social media to go after the legendary actor for his mistake.
While presenting the Oscar for Best Picture, Pacino skipped announcing the names of all the nominees before declaring the winner.
Although oppenheimer won, the film faced other blockbuster productions such as American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, The Remains, Flower Moon Killers, Teacher, Past Lives, Poor, and The area of interest.
Instead of making an introduction to include all the nominees, Al Pacino quickly opened the winner’s envelope and declared: “Only one is going to take Best Picture, and I have to go to the envelope for that, and I will. Here it comes. my eyes see Oppenheimer.”
Oscar viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to talk about Al Pacino’s mistake. “I wish Al had read all the nominees first,” one viewer wrote. “He really wanted to see sizzling reels and a little tension.”
Another viewer also wrote: “What a strange and anticlimactic way to reveal the winner. Everyone was like ‘WTF!’”

After winning the Best Actress award for her role in poor things, Emma Stone took the stage for her acceptance speech and admitted she was experiencing a wardrobe malfunction. Her dress tore on her back.
“My dress is torn,” Stone declared onstage. “I think it happened during [Ryan Gosling’s performance of] I’m just Ken.“
As he walked off stage, Stone added, “Don’t look at it.”
Gosling performed an incredible performance of his now popular song. I’m just Ken from the 2023 film Barbie. Guns N’ Roses’ Slash performed alongside Gosling.
And, of course, no one will be able to forget seeing John Cena completely naked on stage. This was a nod to actor David Niven being upstaged by a player 50 years ago.
Oscars 2024 host Jimmy Kimmel spoke about the historic moment and looked up to tease an encore moment. When nothing happened, Kimmel walked backstage and brought out a naked Cena.
“I changed my mind,” Cena declared. “The male body is no joke.” Her private area was covered by a large envelope. “Costumes are really important.”
He then presented the Costume Award to Poor things.
