After dating Divya Punetha for almost eight years, the couple tied the knot on 19 June 2021 amid the COVID-19 restrictions in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Divya works as a gynaecologist & obstetrician in Uttarakhand. In an interview, Akshay talked about his wedding. He said,
I am one person who has always been very excited about the wedding. Usually, we say girls dream of having a grand wedding or getting married but in my case everything is opposite. It was always my dream to get married to Divya and I am excited that it is finally coming true. She has been with me through thick and thin, when I was nothing. Also our parents were not very convinced about the marriage as she is Brahmin and I am a Rajput. So they had their reservations. There were a lot of conflicts. I was not settled and Divya’s family, like every parent, wanted someone with a secure job. They would tell her that you are a doctor, he is an actor and what are you. But we kept faith and love won in our case. She supported me in my tough times. I am super excited and I have been dancing every night with my Pandya Store team, even though they are equally happy for me.”
He further added,
There were two memorable moments. The first was the moment when I saw Divya. I was waiting for that moment for a long time, so it was special for me. And another was when we were taking wedding rounds in front of everyone and Pandit Ji. And we were repeating the mantras and vowed with Pandit Ji. Those were the most special and memorable moments.”

Career
He started his career as a film director and assisted a few directors for almost five years. He then got an offer to work as a model in a TV commercial. Later, he appeared in many print advertisements for famous brands like Big Bazaar, Max, and Rexona.

Akshay has also appeared in various TV commercials, and one of his biggest TV ad projects was an advertisement of Kalyan Jewellers with the legendary Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan.

In 2019, he debuted as an actor with the Hindi film ‘Kandy Twist,’ but he could not gain much fame. He was then roped in Star Plus TV serial ‘Pandy Store’ (2021) along with popular TV actors like Kinshuk Mahajan, Shiny Doshi, and Kanwar Dhillon.

In 2021, he appeared in the Hollywood film ‘Tomorrow You Will be Dead’ starring Morgane Ferru and Sevn Schelker. Akshay also appeared in a few music videos like ‘Ek Bewaffa’ (2021) by Sameer Khan and ‘Chitta Parada’ (2021) by Manu Singh.

In 2021, he filed a complaint against a boy named Ritwik Singh who was using Akshay’s photos and name to trap girls online. Akshay said,
There are a lot of fake IDs who are using my name and pictures and are trapping people especially girls. I have heard the name of this guy named Ritwik Singh from people who have been doing it for a while now. I had filed a complaint 4 years ago about the matter, but there was no action taken. There was no response from the police or the cyber-crime people.”
