During a school Kabaddi tournament, where Akash was playing, the president of Brahma Sports Club was impressed by his skills and made him a member of the club. There Akash improved his kills and worked on his game. In 2019, he won the title of district champion in the youth team selection trial tournament organized by Nashik District Kabaddi Association. In 2020, he was selected for the Nashik district team in the Maharashtra State Youth Team Selection Trial Tournament.

In 2020, Akash Shinde represented the state of Maharashtra in the National Kabaddi Tournament 2019–20 held in Rohtak, Haryana. He became the top scorer for Maharashtra state. Later, he was selected for the Indian team’s training camp for the Junior Asian Championship.

Pro Kabbadi League
In 2021, Akash was selected to play for Puneri Paltan’s youth academy, Yuva Paltan, in the Junior National Tournament held in Rohtak, following which he was selected to play for Puneri Paltan in Season 8 of the Pro Kabaddi League. In 2021, Akash Shinde made his debut with Puneri Paltan in Season 8 of the Pro Kabaddi League. Akash was retained for Season 9 and Season 10 of the Pro Kabaddi League to play for Puneri Paltans.
