Ajit Pawar is an Indian politician from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He is an MLA from Maharashtra and is the nephew of Sharad Pawar.

Ajit Pawar was born on Wednesday, 22 July 1959 (age 64 years; as of 2023) in Deolali Pravara, Bombay State, India. His zodiac sign is Cancer. His full name is Ajit Anantrao Pawar. He did his schooling from Maharashtra Education Society High School in Baramati, Maharashtra. He has a Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Maharashtra State Board, and is also a college dropout. He moved to Mumbai to pursue graduation, but his father passed away when he was in college, so he had to leave his studies and come back home to take care of his family.

His father, Anantrao Pawar, worked for the prominent film producer, V. Shantaram, at “Rajkamal Studios” in Bombay. His mother’s name is not known. His grandparents’ names are Govind Pawar and Sharda Pawar. His elder brother Srinivas is a businessman. His sister, Vijaya Patil (media person), died on 22 January 2017.
Ajit Pawar is married to Sunetra Pawar, daughter of former Maharashtra minister Padmasingh Bajirao Patil. They have two sons, Jai Pawar and Parth Pawar. While Jai is a businessman, Parth is a politician who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Maval constituency in Maharashtra but lost by a huge margin of 2,15,193 votes.

In 1982, Ajit Pawar entered active politics after being elected to the board of a co-operative sugar factory in Pune. In 1991, he was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time from Baramati constituency in Maharashtra. - In August 2002, when he was the Water Resources Minister, he reportedly leased 141.15 hectares (348.8 acres) of land from the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation (MKVDC) to Lavasa, a dream project of Sharad Pawar. Reportedly, the land deal between MKVDC and Lavasa was done at rates much below the market rate.
- In September 2012, his name cropped up in a scam worth Rs 70,000 crore. Former Maharashtra bureaucrat Vijay Pandhare made these allegations against Ajit. After these allegations, Ajit had to resign from the post of Deputy CM of Maharashtra. However, he was reinstated after getting a clean chit.
