AJ McLean celebrates two years of sobriety and talks about his journey.

The Backstreet Boys singer, 45, recently got candid about his decision to get sober and how he’s gone through the process.

“Next Tuesday I’ll be two years sober, so life is great right now,” AJ said. People Saturday at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

“It never gets easier, but it becomes a functional part of the mind. You have to literally make it an everyday thing, whether you attend a meeting or not,” he added.

AJ also revealed that he spent 10 weeks in an intensive outpatient mental health program in Arizona following the conclusion of the Backstreet Boys’ DNA world tour in May.

“I knew I had a window of time, so I said, ‘You know what? I need to do some inner work. The sobriety thing is good. I need to go back and dig a little. Ten weeks for the rest of my life, I’m very grateful for it,” he told the outlet. “It was totally worth it.'”

Earlier this year, AJ McLean opened up about how he helped the late Aaron Carter enter rehab.
