If you know anything about music legend Bruce Springsteen, then you know about his mother Adele. The famous artist always talks about his love for her and how he influenced her music.
On February 1, the artist broke the news that his mother had died. He was 98 years old. After his death, Springsteen paid tribute to his mother with a heartfelt post on Instagram.
“I remember that in the morning mom heard the alarm clock ring. She would lay me in bed and listen to you getting ready for work, the sound of your makeup case in the sink. And the office ladies, full of lipstick, perfume and crisp skirts, always looked proud and happy walking home from work,” she wrote.
“It’s not about a phone call on Sunday, or flowers, or a Mother’s Day card. There is a house on the hill with a garden and a nice little patio. I have my hot rod on Bond Street. I’m older but you’ll recognize me at a glance. “We’ll find a little rock and roll bar and go out dancing.”
Star opens up about her mother’s battle with Alzheimer’s
Over the years, Springsteen had been very transparent about his mother’s battle with Alzheimer’s. It is a condition that causes severe memory loss. But the 74-year-old always made sure to let his fans know that even though his mother’s mind wasn’t 100%, he never lost his ability to dance.
“She grew up in the 1940s… (with) big bands and swing bands, and that was a time when dancing was an existential act,” he said.
“He continued dancing even after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 95.”[It]It has taken a lot from us. But the need to dance has not abandoned her.”
Springsteen credits his mother for his musical success
Springsteen has also noted that his mother has not only had a great impact on his life. She has also been a big influence on his music.
“There isn’t a single note that I play on stage that can’t be traced back to my mother,” he said of her.
He has also credited her with “keeping his family together.”
“She held our family together under great, great, great hardships,” Springsteen said. “She did something unusual: her parents were relatively well-off and she married into poverty and served there for much of her life and she really kept us all together.”
