“I forget what floor they were on, but we weren’t allowed to go on that floor, we weren’t allowed to tell anyone they were there,” Hines recalled.

“One of them carved ‘help me’ on his window and you could see it. I was like, ‘What’s going on on that floor?’ “

The actor describes the days before the verdict

Hines also noted that things reached a turning point as the trial neared its conclusion. Most people knew that whether OJ was found guilty or not guilty, the trial verdict would be explosive.

As he prepared to make a decision, Hines notes that his manager at the time ordered him to “pack a bag and leave it by the door.” After that, he was to drive directly to his hotel and check in to take safety precautions.

“It was very interesting,” Hines continued.

“During that trial, my manager asked me to pack a suitcase and leave it packed by my door because when they got the news that a verdict was coming, I was supposed to drive straight to the hotel and check in. “I think it was the first time I stayed in a really nice hotel.”

The Simpson Murder Case

Despite having a decorated career in the NFL, OJ’s criminal record is equally decorated. In 1994, the former Buffalo Bills star was accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Simpson and his friend Ron Goldman.

The case made national headlines, including a nationally televised high-speed chase with police that led to his arrest. The not guilty verdict was one of the most controversial decisions in American history.

However, OJ lost a civil trial that ordered him to pay a large sum to the victims’ families.
