  • During one of his interviews, Abhishek Chatterjee revealed that despite being a lead actor of Tollywood in the 90s, he was not getting any work in the industry and due to this he had to face depression. He blamed actors Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta for his condition. He said,

Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta! In ’96-’98, they formed an alliance and released me from about 30-32 pictures. At that time I was number one in Tollywood. I had no work for almost a year. I sat down and went into depression. After a few years I joined this journey. After this, contact with the industry was completely lost. Then I heard people saying, ‘The consecration is over.’ It will be difficult to hear all this. But I was confident.”

I have always been Prosenjit’s main rival. I noticed several times, he was making some noise. But I always thought of him as a friend. That’s why I didn’t take any serious steps. But I have not done anything wrong, so the question of apology does not arise. After that I started the journey.”
