He went to Chennai to pursue B.Tech in Biotechnology from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. During his second year of college, he realized that he was not made for this kind of profession. Then, he started attending part-time music classes at AR Rahman’s ‘KM Music Conservatory’ in Chennai; As part-time. At the academy, he was part of a Qawwali group that performed at private functions. At that time AR Rahman was looking for a new voice for a song in the Telugu film Kaadhal (2013). When Rahman saw him singing qawwali, he asked him for a voice test. Within a few days, Rahman gave him a big break with the duet “Moongil Thottam” with Harini. The song became a huge hit and opened up other opportunities for him.
