Early Life
Aasif Khan was born on the 13th of March 1991, in Nimbahera, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India. He is 32 years old and holds Indian nationality. Meanwhile, he has a zodiac sign of Pisces and he has a belief in the Muslim religion.
Following his parents, he is of Ayyub Khan (father) and Firdous Khan (mother). Professionally, his father worked at J.K. Cement while his mother is a housewife. But sadly, his father died in the year of 2008. Similarly, he grew up with his two brothers and a sister whose names are yet to be revealed by him.
Education and Early Career
Regarding his academic career, he went to Kailash Vidya Vihar, Nimbahera. After finishing his high school education, he went to Mohanlal Sukhadia University in Udaipur, Rajasthan. He earned a degree in Fine Arts from the university. His interest in acting began in 2001 at his school’s annual event, where he performed the role of a servant in the Kissa Kursi Ka play.
Moreover, he was hugely inspired by the “shaadiwallah” act performed by comedian Raju Srivastava in the popular TV show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. It help and encouraged him to participate in the stand-up competition held locally where he surprisingly won. Due to his father’s sudden demise in 2008, he took a break from acting. During that time, he did small jobs for a living and parallelly completed his higher secondary education.
Professional Career
In 2010, Aasif Khan went to Mumbai to pursue his acting career. During that time, he initially started working in a hotel as a waiter. Afterward, he worked in a mall and simultaneously gave auditions, where he was advised to learn the art of acting and performing theatre. Meanwhile, he appeared as a junior artist in the Bollywood movies “Ready” and “Agneepath.”
Later, he joined the Sarthak and Ujaagar Theatre Group in Jaipur in the year 2011 to learn theatre and sharpen his acting skills. He made his theatre debut as Abu Hassan directed by Rajiv Acharya, and several others for 5 years with prestigious groups and renowned personalities like Sabir Khan.
In the year 2015, he did play the Rajasthani play Kasumal Sapno, a musical adaptation of William Shakespeare’s comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Ajeet Singh Palawat at the International Theatre Festival in Karachi organized by the Pakistan National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA).
Later, he returned to Mumbai in the year 2016 and started working as a casting associate for a year in Casting Bay owned by his mentor cum friend Abhishek Banerjee and Anmol Ahuja. Afterward, he made cameo appearances in Bollywood movies “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” and “Pari.”
In 2017, he made his lead role as Durgesh Kumar – a young aspirant for an interview in Anurag Worlikar’s short film called “Vacancy.” Later, she appeared as Babar, a loyal aide in the 2018 web series “Mirzapur.”
Recent Works and upcoming projects
He made his Bollywood film debut in 2019 in Raj Kumar Gupta’s “India’s Most Wanted” where he played the crucial role of Bittu Sinha alongside Arjun Kapoor. Thar same year, he appeared as Chintu in “Humorously Yours.”
He stunned the audience in 2020’s “Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega” by playing the crucial role of journalist Anas Ahmad. In the comedy-drama “Panchayat” from The Viral Fever, he appeared as a stubborn bridegroom. Then, he made an appearance in “Paatal Lok” (2020) as Kabir M.
Again, he reprised the role of Babar in the “Mirzapur” season 2 and appeared in the short film: “Sorry” (2020). In 2021, he starred in the short film “Click” which streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. He played Parchun in Umesh Bist’s comedy-drama film “Pagglait” which got released on 26th of March 2021 on Netflix.
Later, he appeared in the 2022 web series “Human” which was streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. In addition, he appeared in two mini-series called “Dil Se Hero” and “Murder In Agonda.” He starred as a lead protagonist in the comedy-drama web television “Ghar Set Ha” which streamed on VOOT. Moreover, his upcoming movie projects are “Kakuda and The Virgin Tree”, “viz. Ishq Chakkallas” and “Noorani Chehra.”
