Aarti Prabhakar is an Indian American engineer and American government official. She came into limelight on October 3, 2022 when she was nominated as the director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and chief science advisor to US President Joe Biden. He served as the head of DARPA, the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, from 2012 to 2017. She is the founder of Actuate, a non-profit enterprise. She is considered the first woman to lead the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) from 1993 to 1997.
