Matt Baker is a British television presenter known for presenting blue peter in the early 2000s, country fileand the only show. Baker’s dream of becoming a physical therapist ended prematurely because she failed to meet the academic requirements. After impressing during a school production of Grease, Matt joined Queen Margaret University to study drama.
After completing his sophomore year in college, Matt auditioned for blue peter and got the role. The role earned him two BAFTA Awards for Best Children’s Presenter and a Royal Television Society Award. Matt and his family recently appeared on Our farm in the valleys.
Matt and his family moved to his parents’ farm after his mother suffered a freak accident.

Matt Baker was born on December 23, 1977 in Easington, County Durham, United Kingdom, the son of Michael and Janice Baker. When Michael called Matt and informed him that his mother had been in an accident on her farm, he immediately decided to move to the farm to help his parents. “I’m a Northerner through and through and the Durham Dales, where I grew up, are like a magnet; I can’t leave,” Matt wrote on news.
“I was there and a big sheep stood on my foot and punished me,” Janice told the Mirror about the accident “Then they dove into my leg and then two others just went away…the pain was excruciating.” Janice needed knee replacement surgery and consequently a lot of help on the farm.
Nicola, Matt’s wife and a trained physical therapist, helped with Janice’s recovery. “Nicola was an invaluable help, he was able to adapt the exercises for her and finally got mom on the mend,” Matt wrote. Matt and his children set out to adapt the farm to better suit Janice and Michael. They bought Janice and Michael smaller sheep that should be easier to handle.
The idea of creating a family show had never occurred to Matt, but when the accident happened, he saw an opportunity to showcase the farm life he loves so much. After getting everyone’s consent, Matt went ahead with the program. “Family is the most important part of the editing process and anything they’ve been remotely uncomfortable with is gone immediately,” Matt added.
“Luke and Molly are essentially the executive producers without even knowing it!” In the first episode of the show, Matt brings his mother back to the scene of the accident for the first time, eliciting an emotional reaction from Janice. “She had to go there and she had to experience that area again,” Matt told the Mirror.
Matt helped restore his dad’s rusty old car.
“It would mean a lot if it could be saved, but I’m not really hopeful,” Matt said at the start of round three as he handed the car over to the mechanics.
To his surprise, the mechanics managed to restore his father’s beloved vehicle. “Even that engine hit me right in the heart,” Matt said. “What excites me the most is knowing what this will mean for my dad.”
Matt also started an orchard in recognition of his father’s love of trees.
