Cue the theme of The X-Files. A Welsh hiker found a surprise silver monolith at Hay Bluff in Wales… maybe aliens are planning a picturesque picnic. Craig Muir came across the towering 10ft structure on a muddy section of his walk through the Powys Highlands.
“When I first saw it, I was a little surprised because it looked like some kind of UFO,” Muir recalled, via The Guardian. “It looked like very thin metal.” [material]almost like surgical steel.”
However, the hiker noted that the silver monolith “seemed perfectly level and stable, even though it was windy.” This led Muir to reflect on how the structure got there.
“There were no obvious footprints around it and you would think something like that would cause a lot of mess,” he explained. “It didn’t look like it had been thrown there, but rather precisely placed on the ground.”

The hiker went on to mention that vehicles were unable to ascend the hill, leading to his speculation that a group arrived by helicopter and airdropped the silver monolith at the site.
Meanwhile, photographer Richard Haynes, who took photographs of the monolith, said wales online found the peculiar structure. Haynes thought it “might be a scientific media investigation that collects rainwater,” but soon realized it was “too tall and weird for that.”
“Then I got closer and it was at least 10 feet tall and triangular, definitely stainless steel,” he said. “It was hollow and I imagine it was quite light. “Light enough for two people to carry and plant in the ground.”
Silver monoliths detected around the world in 2020
Following the hiker’s discovery of the silver monolith in Wales, no one has come forward to account or claim ownership. This discovery echoes a similar finding in England in 2020.
In December 2020, a structure was discovered at Compton Beach, located off the southern coast of England. Before the monolith off the English coast, three others were discovered around the world.
The initial one was located in a secluded desert in Utah on November 23, 2020. This monolith, between 10 and 12 feet tall, was reportedly torn down five days later.
On November 26, 2020, the second monolith was unearthed in the Romanian city of Piatra Neamt. Not long after, another monolith appeared on California’s Pine Mountain on December 3, 2020. Perhaps this new monolith in Wales will start a new series of sightings…
