Hollywood writers are officially on strike.
Thousands of unionized writers are demonstrating, arguing that they are not being paid fairly in the age of streaming. After negotiations stalled and failed, the board of directors of the Writers Guild of America voted unanimously to call a strike.
The strike began early Tuesday (May 2), effectively halting television production and marking the first strike in more than 15 years.
The last time this happened, during the 2007-2008 strike, it had a major impact on some of our favorite shows, including important episode losses and scrapped show ideas.
