1 Star Halts Production on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Amid Strikes, Show Considering Postponing Premiere

The pressure to postpone dancing with the stars amid the Hollywood strikes has forced at least one participant to go on hiatus.

Twice nominated for an Emmy as an actor and veep Star Matt Walsh is delaying his participation in the hit ABC series following criticism, and the WGA has picketed rehearsals in at least two locations around Los Angeles.

In a statement to Deadline, he said: “I am taking a pause dancing with the stars until an agreement is reached with the WGA.”

“I was excited to join the program and did so under the impression that it was not a WGA program and that it had a different agreement,” he continued.

“This morning, when my union, the WGA, informed me that it is considered strike work, I walked out of my rehearsal. “I have been and always will be alongside my union members from the WGA, SAG and DGA,” he said.

“Beyond our union artists, I am sensitive to the many people affected by the strike and hope for a quick and fair resolution, and to one day return to work with all the wonderful people I met at DWTS who tolerated my dancing,” he added.

He is paired with Koko Iwasaki and is a member of both SAG-AFTRA and the WGA.

The premiere will most likely be delayed next week, amid increasing pressures on talent according to Variety.

ABC also just confirmed Variety that the network is putting plans in place to postpone the dancing with the stars premiere.
