Seo Yi-sook was born on the 6th of December 1966, in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. She holds a South-Korean nationality and she is 56 years old as of 2022. In addition, she has a birth sign of Scorpio and her ethical background is unknown.

This was the turning point in her life and at the age of 19 year old, she decided to become an actress and applied as a member of a local theater troupe at the Suwon Arts Theater.
In addition, she attended the School of Korean Music at Chung-Ang University Undergraduate School. She completed her graduation majoring in acting, and Seo got her Bachelor’s Degree in Korean Music.

Theatre
Seo Yi-sook began her career as an actress by joining a local theatre company in Suwon, GyeongGi-Do in 1980. She performed in theater in several works and was mainly recognized for her speaking skill. Moreover, she got selected for the main role Yeok-hwa in the play ‘Pakkoji’ in the year 1987.
This play earned the grand prize (the President’s Award) and director Lee Jae-in won the directing award and Seo Yi-sook won Acting Award. The ‘ Pakkoji’ was invited to the 12th Seoul International Theatre Festival (1988) and was performed at the Arts Centre Grand Theatre on 19–20 August 1988.
Later, she moved to Seoul and auditioned to be a member of the Theatre Company Michu in 1989. That same year, she debuted in the play Shin Yi Gukgi. She made her first appearance as a musical actress in Make a Hero (1990).
For more than a decade, she practices groundwork, learning, and training in traditional performing arts, with many minor roles in Madangnori of Michu. Her acting career’s turning point came in the 2003 play ‘Heo Sam-gwan Blood.’ After years of joining Michu, she took on her first lead role as Heo Ok-ran, Heo Sam-gwan’s wife.
In 2019, she featured in a monologue play called ‘Lady Macbeth’s Wardrobe’, which was held on November 6th and 7th at Donhwamun Traditional Music Hall in Seoul. Moreover, she joined the play Vincent River written by Philip Ridley in 2021.
Television Appearances
In early 2010, she made her television appearance in the role of Queen Myeong-seong in the SBS drama Jejungwon. Empress of the Joseon Dynasty, real name Min Ja-young. Moreover, she appeared in MBC historical drama The Duo, playing the role of the beggar’s wife.
In the 2012 MBC weekend drama Feast of the Gods, she appeared as Noh Young-shim. Moreover, she has been playing a dazzling role as Seo Sang-gung in the South-Korean historical drama series, Empress Ki (2013).

Relationship Status
Talking about her relationship status, Seo Yi-sook is a divorced woman. In past, she was married to a famous banker but her husband’s company went bankrupt and they eventually got divorced.
Currently, there is no information regarding her relationship status, and seems to be single the actress is not dating anyone at the moment. This Korean actress underwent a comprehensive health checkup for the first time in her life and was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in the spring of 2011.
There were false rumors spread in July and September 2021 that, Seo Yi-sook died from a heart attack. However, it was found that the rumor was spread by netizen A and her agency Quantum E&M sued the perpetrator.
