Bill says that he not only stays away from BB-8 memorabilia, but also other merchandise from his other projects that many will simply resell online.

“I don’t sign them,” he said. “The autograph people didn’t want me. I’m not going to sign things.

He then went into detail about the moment he turned it off: “Do you know what it was? She used to sign things, and then one time I saw someone and her son came up to me to sign something for BB-8 and it was three in the morning. I was leaving the Inside out premiere and then we went to an after party and it was so late and this guy kept his son up all night. [He] I was like, ‘Go there so I can sign it and sell it online.

“I was like, ‘That’s fucked up.’ So now, I’m just saying I’m not signing any of this shit,” Bill added.

Bill also pointed out that you’ve given him a lot more credit for BB-8 than you think he deserves.

He says that all he did was “some voice stuff that just didn’t work.”

“It’s really sweet that JJ Abrams put my name on it, but I went in and did voice stuff that didn’t work,” Bill shared. “Then he brought me back later and said, ‘Hey, do you want to do this?’ It was like a…talk box thing and then I did that. And the reason he hasn’t made me come back is because anyone can do that. It’s like a machine you can operate.”
